• Colton Herta enjoys short oval racing at Iowa Speedway for Iowa 300 weekend

The #88 Harding Steinbrenner Racing Honda finished 18th in the Iowa 300 after qualifying in 11th position. The green flag at Iowa Speedway was delayed nearly four hours due to severe storms. As a result, the race concluded at 2:14 a.m. ET on Sunday. Rookie Colton Herta began by charging through the field and then racing comfortably in the top-ten for the majority of the race. The team suffered an early retirement after a half shaft broke with twenty laps remaining in the race.
“Colton and the #88 Harding Steinbrenner Racing guys did a really nice job today,” said team president Brian Barnhart. “We had a car running in the top-ten for most of the day, and we were poised for a run at eighth or ninth to finish off the event. Looks like we broke a half shaft. It’s disappointing, because other than that Colton did a great job this weekend and so did everyone on the crew. Now we focus on next weekend at Mid-Ohio.”
“Very disappointing day for the #88 Harding Steinbrenner Racing team,” said Colton Herta. “We had a pretty good run throughout most of the race, but not enough to run with the front guys. We did have enough to finish in the top-ten again, except we had a half shaft break with twenty laps to go. There’s nothing we can do to heal this except look forward to racing again at Mid-Ohio which is my favorite track in North America.”
