• The #88 Capstone Turbine Honda team excited for the Grand Prix of Portland weekend

The third race in a three-week race stint on the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series schedule concludes with the Grand Prix of Portland at Portland International Raceway this weekend. Colton Herta will pilot the #88 Capstone Turbine Honda around the twelve-turn 1.967-mile permanent road course.
The 19-year-old has previous experience at the Pacific Northwest permanent road course in an Indy Lights car and an Indy car. Herta’s first official NTT IndyCar Series test was last year at Portland International Raceway with Harding Racing, but this weekend will be his first competition there in an Indy car. The Valencia, California, native had a podium finish in his final weekend as an Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires driver in 2018.
“I’m looking forward to this weekend’s event at the Portland International Raceway,” said team president, Brian Barnhart. “It’s where we had our first interaction and opportunity to run Colton in an Indy car. We tested there in the summer of 2018, and it went extremely well. Portland International Raceway is the type of track that seems to suit Colton’s driving style. It’s kind of like the Circuit of the Americas and Road America which are a couple of tracks where we have had great success at this year. We’re hoping we can continue that trend this weekend.”
“I’m really excited for the Grand Prix of Portland this weekend,” said Colton Herta. “I enjoyed racing at Portland International Raceway last year in Indy Lights, so it will be a blast racing there in an Indy car. The #88 Capstone Turbine Honda car was so quick last weekend, so I’m hoping we can continue that speed this weekend and get a great finish!”
Practice for the Grand Prix of Portland begins on Friday, August 30th at 1:50 p.m. ET and can be streamed live on NBC Sports Gold. Qualifying begins on Saturday at 5:00PM ET on NBC Sports. Sunday’s race day coverage is live on NBC at 3:00 PM ET.
